Much more helpful answer: Jobs only knows. Panther (Mac OS 10.3) could be announced any day -- or as late as the end of the year. Maybe even His Steveness Himself hasn't picked a date yet, in which case nobody knows. >From reports I've read online and received in private email, Panther is going to do as much for performance as Jaguar did for Ease of Use. Concensus seems to be that Panther will finally give us the power of Unix with the kind of speed we used to experience under Mac OS 8 and 9. And lots of other improvements as well. At this point I'd suggest avoiding buying a new iBook (or 15" PowerBook) as new models should also be "just around the corner." -- Dan Knight, president, Cobweb Publishing, Inc. <http://cobwebpublishing.com> <http://lowendmac.com> <http://digital-views.com> <http://digigraphica.com> <http://lowendpc.com> <http://reformed.net> Please have your pet peeves spayed or neutered. -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
