Innocent until proven guilty - the foundation of modern law - states you should have fully investigated all sides of a dispute or accusation to the fullest means practical before making any sort of judgment, implied, suggested or otherwise. Being psychic is not 'practical' however asking someone how they acquired the software and then listening to their reasoning in a polite and open manner is.
That aside you were generally very negative and damning about the whole thing. The 'did he steal it' debate aside, you said nothing remotely useful and make OS X Server look like a useless piece of trash, which it sure as hell is not. The guy isn't going to blow up anyone's house (except perhaps his own ;) ) with it, nor is he likely to suddenly cause a third world famine in East Sussex or an earthquake in central London.
