Thanks for the info, Mike. That means I can give 10.3 to my brother to install, and then he can give it to our brother-in-law to install and HE can give it to me to install on another computer. After that I can give it to a friend to install who can give it to another friend, etc. Thank you for clarifying the situation and telling me how several people can install Panther using only 1 purchased copy.

No, _that_ is piracy. Just because you didn't make a _copy_ of the disc doesn't make it ok.
Owner 1 uses it.
Owner 1 changed and stopped using it (and gave up his/her license for it)
Owner 1 Gave it to someone else (with his/her license for it)
Owner 2 uses it.
Owner 2 changed and stopped using it (and gave up his/her license for it)
Owner 2 Gave it to someone else (with his/her license for it)
Owner 3 uses it.
.........
That would be ok, because NONE of the previous owners are still using that license.
You can't just use the disc, install it and pass the disc on...that would mean you'd have many people using one license, which is piracy.
Its one of the many things you agree to when you open the box, when you break the seal on the CD packet, when you click 'I agree' whilst installing. - and anyone who doesn't understand this should not own a computer. - this is why I asked my friend if he got the 'all-clear' from the boss to do with, what he pleases with the license, the last thing I want to get done for is accepting stolen material and passing it on to Phil.
Ok, So, does everyone understand?
When you buy the disc, you don't buy the software, you buy the privilege to use it.
Now, lets have no more on this unless someone has something helpful/useful to say to Phil about it.
