Intel Pentium 4. The eMac offers most of that in their standard $799
price with no throw-ins or gimmicks. What's more, we got Dell's
in my
office about three months ago. While some software's run faster,
it's
been disapointment-cit since. (But one might argue that's the
software and not the hardware.) Yet while the world reeks from the
latest computer viruses, my experiences with Mac's is that they're
pretty much virus free.

Hi Mike.
I used to live up there - on Mass Ave in Hahvahd Squaya. I really
liked the area, but the politics were a bit too liberal for me.
Anyway, I imagine you're in good company here with the Apple Forever
stuff - I have the same experience... except I get to work on Macs
even
while there's also a PC on my desk too. In fact, I'm typing on my
employer-provided PowerBook right now.
I seriously wonder why people tolerate Windows. It's just so...
shoddy
... is the best word I can think of. Look, we may one day have
viruses
on OS X, but there are some design differences between Unix (and
thereby OS X) and Windows, differences that make viruses much more
difficult on OS X. Worms wouldn't be as difficult, but then we'd be
calling those "trojans," and no OS can protect itself from a stupid
user who runs trojans.
Anyway, I don't need to launch into a total anti-Windows diatribe
today. ;)
