From: chris <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Does the new iMac come with a modem?
You (and another poster) are right -- the brand-new, just-shipping iMac G5 doesn't come with a phone modem.
I suspect Apple has officially dropped the modem as a standard item on the iMacs starting with the newly released model.
I imagine you're right, but I suspect the lower-end consumer models (that would be the iBook and Mac mini -- the eMac, which was always available WITHOUT a modem if you chose to exclude it, is now an edu- only item) will continue to offer modems for a while yet. Portables really kind of REQUIRE them, and the mini is aimed at low-end consumers (who probably have low-end dialup connections).
