That technique doesn't send an "unknown user" message, it sends the bounce
message, "User mailbox exceeds allowed size"

The couple domains I manage are small, so I like to use the nobody alias to
catch valid, but misaddressed mail. Quite a while back the list solved for
me how to bounce emails for the scenario you describe.
1. I leave them setup as a user, but I diasble account access on the
general tab.
2. Set the max mailbox size to 1 byte. This will mean that every message is
effectively bounced.
3. I then enable an automated response via the info manager with some type
of automated reply. I do include a vaild email address in case someone
really wants to contact us.
The key is this is setting the max mailbox size to 1.
