if you think about all the possible causes with locked .mbx files, you have
to wonder if somehow webmail is locking the .mbx file on very large files
and thereby not letting you delete the files via webmail.

Out of curiosity, how big are the .mbx files when they cannot be deleted?

Is there a constant that any .mbx file over x size cannot delete emails when
they reach that size?

If there is a constant, then clearly, there is a bug at that x size. That
limit should be easy for tech support to look at and replicate.

If you have some .mbx files over x in size that CAN delete emails via
webmail, then you have an even worse bug trying to replicate the condition.

Have you thought of zipping that mail account that cannot delete emails and
sending it to Ipswitch for them to troubleshoot?

Thanks for your help - should have mentioned we've checked that as well.
What a mystery!
