The list serve will only pump out one e-mail to all the people in the list. You are looking for a e-mail marketing package that will allow you to send many e-mails. We use a program call Broadcast put out by mailworkz (http://www.mailworkz.com) which allows you to do both text based and html based. Great support if needed and works well with Imail.
