Thanks Jamie. I guess what I need to know is where do you watch user
logins for web access? I have 13,000 plus accounts on the box. Is there
a utility or are you just looking in the logs?
Thanks

I have seen the same thing. The way I verified was as follows:
1 - stopped web service
2 - started web service
3 - logged in as myself
4 - watched user logins
5 - particular user logged in upon spike
6 - stopped/started web service again
7 - logged in as that user
8 - same thing (was only user logged in at that point)
found out it was something on their 2nd page of the mailbox
9 - downloaded their email through pop3
10 - server is fixed now
There must be a bug. If someone at IMAIL wants me to forward the users emails to them
I will, but that won't guarantee a fix. I have them sitting in outlook express right
now. Also the user had it setup to view the first certain amount of the email from
their preferences. I changed that back; could this be causing this weird problem?

Ed,
I am wondering how you determined which user was causing the crash. How
did you track them down.
Thanks,

Yes, we recorded which user was involved. I haven't contacted them yet to
check that it's OK to look into their mailbox and see what messsage(s)
causes the webmail service to crash. This never happened on 8.05 so I'm
guessing it was a bug introduced with 8.1/8.11

Hi Ed,
How did you determine the user involved?
Thanks.

To add to this, I found it was caused by a certain user opening a
certain message on their account- anyone from Ipswitch care
to comment
on why this crashes the whole webmail service?

We're on 8.11 and the webmail service has crashed 4 times
in the last
48 hours; I have enabled logging now to see why it is
happening but at
the moment I only have the message from service control
manager in MS
event viewer. Does anyone else have a similar problem?
Regards,
I am seeing the same issues. We ran fine for around three
weeks or so
on the 8.11 upgrade but now the web service is randomly pegging the
cpu and locking the box up. I would be interested to know if anyone
else has encountered this problem with the new version as
well and if
there is a resolution.
