Did you check what was wrong with the mbx-file?
I've had som webmail problems myself, caused by faulty mailbox files. The
files always had more than one "MAIL FROM" lines in a row. As soon as those
lines were deleted from the file, everything worked as normal.

What I'm concerned about is how those invalid lines got in there in the
first place. If your problem was caused by the same type of error, there is
a serious bug somewhere that produces those lines.

Many thanks for pointing out where to look Julie. Problem solved. It was
indeed the same user each time. Turns out this user had a hung deleted
items box. I removed the box and all is well. I would still like to see
Ipswitch jump on this issue soon. If they could finally tackle the web
service problems once and for all we could all get some sleep at night.

Cheers.

Using a text editor (like notepad) open any of the .tmp files in the
/spool/web folder with a timestamp that matches the time when your WebMail
service hurled. Scroll through and look for the user's email address -
you'll find it in there.

When you hit the right one *POOF* ...the WebMail service will puke. Without
going into too much detail on a public list, viewing a message with certain
properties kills WebMail. Bummer, eh? :(

Their advice was to configure the web messaging service to automatically
restart (under Windows -> Services) until further notice.
