On average my Imail server processes over 100,000 messages per day. I have a DS3 to
the internet, so bandwidth shouldn't be an issue. But YES, having the lists locally,
I belive, would help.

Could be.
FWIW, though, only a small percentage of spam databases offer zone
transfers of their data. Also, the zone transfers are only useful if you
have a high enough rate of queries. For example, if the zone file is 50MB
(some are!), and you update it just once a day (meaning that your data
isn't as fresh as connecting directly), you would need to do over 100,000
lookups per day to justify the zone transfers (that's 100,000 non-cached
lookups, so you could quite possibly process 1/4 million E-mails/day before
the zone transfer is justified).
