Don't just blame SBL we are use At&T as our service provider and they sent
us a note a while back notifying us of a violation of their policies. One of
our clients had a third party do a Marketing campaign and used their email
address in the body of the message.

We notified our client not to participate in marketing campaigns and use and
account on our server anywhere in the message.

Our servers had nothing to do with the mail campaign but AT&T threatened to
cut our service. So I do not think SBL is out of line here.

If you terminate the account the SBL can verify that the account/domain no
longer resides on your server.
