I am running pop3s.exe dated 9/10/96 (132,096 bytes). And I do get several of the CAPA errors per day also. And the largest daily POP3 log that I have this month is 2MB.

I have noticed only the following 'error' in the pop log. I also note that this error is present every time certain users check for mail, it could be something unique to their email clients.

[space space] from xxx.xx.xxx.xx CAPA [27/Nov/2004:00:00:42] - ERR unknown or invalid command in this state [CAPA]
user_user from xxx.xx.xxx.xx PASS **** OK [27/Nov/2004:00:00:42]
user_user from xxx.xx.xxx.xx QUIT OK [27/Nov/2004:00:00:42]

But the notable item is that all of my logs start with that error.

Now.. I've just checked my log dir [c:\usr\emwac\mail\Pop3log\] and the last log file I have is 1041127.log.

I do not have a 28th or 29th log file.

The 27th log file ended at Nov 27 23:59:59.
The POP3S process is running, and has not been restated.

Restarting POP3S...
ok now pop3 log for Nov 29, and first item is a CAPA err like above.

What is the POP3S version that you are running.. date and size.. am I running an obsolete version?

what type of error do you see in your pop3logs? I have used the PopAuth
with the SMTPRcv and it seems to work for me. I used it with the older
setup also though. And I do not have a lot of traffic on any of my MTAs
compared to some others on this list.

I would like to use SMTPrcv but would require the POPauth feature since I
have a few users with non-local dynamic addresses.

But.. for some reason I have never had reliable pop logging through POP3S
(132,096 bytes September 10, 1996)

The logging seems very hit and miss, quite often I will not have any pop3
log at all for several days.

It may be coincedental, but the first item in a log is an error, that
seems to 'trigger' the logging of logins.

I have POP3 logging enabled in the IMS control panel.

Any help would be appreciated.
