You know, I've never figured out why DFS picked those
funny characters as the prefix for the file system anyway.

Even so, it makes sense we leverage on them:
        /...    is where it all starts
        /.:     local cell...
        /:      is the base of the file system

These need to be added...

        /:-(    The file server which never answers
        /:-)    Any file server that's up
        /;-)    An imposter file system

We could become prefixes for user's home directories...
I guess most naive users would have to have /;-}/ prefixes
while the savvy ones would have /*:-)/.

Mine could be:
        /:-o/mts        Because of how much disk space I use.
