andrew.cmu.edu uses the scheme:
/afs/andrew.cmu.edu/usrX/USER
where X is a number, 0 for non-person accounts and 1-25 for normal
accounts. The nubmers 1-25 are assigned upon account creation in
round-robin fashion, with no correlation to any attribute of the user.
The number 25 is arbitrary--If our user population grows substantially,
we can increase it to match, without having to move any of the
existing users.
The directory /afs/andrew.cmu.edu/usr/ contains symlinks for all
users, pointing to their home directory.
