Hello to all! First of all, thanks to everyone who will help, as I know
how much work it is sometimes to help people. My problem first started a few days ago when I was trying to
re-setup my frontend to my MythTV
system. In doing so, I decided to do
an update to my backend server (which in hindsight, I probably shouldn’t
have done…). It updated my
kernel to version 2.6.17-1.2139_FC4.
Well, as I always do when possible, I rebooted my server after doing the
update just to make sure things behaved properly, and
to let the new kernel be used. I
left it at this time, but then a day and a half later I noticed that none of my
recordings have been taking place.
I do a little troubleshooting and do another yum update, and this time
find a new ivtv and ivtv-modules
(I used the atrpms to install ivtv
originally) so I figure that there is a new version of ivtv
for my new kernel, cool, this will fix my problem. Well, it did, kinda. Now I am recording video, which is
always nice, but no audio. Just to
be sure that it wasn’t a MythTV problem, I ran
this command: cat /dev/video0
> test.mpg Then I played that file, and sure enough, there’s
video but no sound. Also to make
sure that I wasn’t having problems with my sound, I played a recording
from before the update, and the sound works perfectly. Then in troubleshooting, I backed up my firmware files and
then replaced them via the instructions here: http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Firmware#Obtaining_and_Installing_the_Firmware That still didn’t work… so now I’m emailing
for help, as I need it J Here is my dmesg. Thanks in advance for any help you’re
able to give! ivtv: no version
