First we had this topic about one or two months ago already so to all it might be good to look up in the archive to not bring up the same arguments again. Second yes it's not big bugs but you're not able to publish something official with it (like games) as Sony relies on software-licensees as they don't earn much or not any money at all with hardware sales Third. Even if there is Linux on PS2 OpenGL or even a high-level API is still far away as SONY's GPU/CPU-Architecture is very special and not seen anywhere else. Sames goes to Java if I remember correct there is only a Java-Linux for i686 and not even one for PPC Linux or Alpha Linux (could be wrong I know there are some people from Blackdown here so please correct me If I'm talking bullshit). So a PS2-Java/Linux is even more far away Fourth. Java and Java3D is nice but the memory-usage is unfortunately very high. PS2 has only 64Megs Main-Memory (??? is this figure correct) which some of it will be taken away from the Kernel of Linux and the Desktop. Fifth there are other hardware-limitation which need a complete rethinking of graphics programming like high-bus-bandwith, UMA, low video/texture ram (only 4 megs) EOF, J.D. -- Explore SRT with the help of Java3D (http://wwwvis.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/relativity/minkowski) (http://www.antiflash.net/java3d/relativity (mirror) =========================================================================== To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include in the body of the message "signoff JAVA3D-INTEREST".
