Is it true that Java3D doesn't handle texture mapping? If so, how does it solve this problem? Are there extensions to handle this or is it possible to write it yourself?
Also, i read that you can't access OpenGL directly with Java3D. Is that so? If not, is there a way to have more control over the capabilities of your app? I guess it's a nebulous question, but what ultimately are the limits of using Java 3D vs let's say, building an engine with Java and an API from scratch? Thanks to all who take a moment for my meager soul. I've been researching like mad and such large questions aren't easy to find good answers to.
