Until the NZ politicians get their collective heads unstuck from their bottoms, there is no way anybody that cares about computers should move there. You'll be treated as a criminal sooner rather than later. Which is a real shame, because NZ has one enormous perk few other countries have: You can hit jaw-droppingly good nature (glaciers you can fly to and walk on, best bungee sites in the world, best walking tracks in the world, most beautiful road I've ever seen (Te Anau to Milford), you can ski, and on the north island, which admittedly is probably the one you'd be going to and I have less experience with, all sorts of volcanic activity on par with hawa'ii, hawa'ii). The cost of living is also extremely low, so while you probably won't build up a nice savings account, the salary will allow you to do more than a salary 1.5x as big in the US or in western europe.
