Not really unique, I mean have your seen some of the stuff said about
Microsoft over the years here?

> But want I don't like is that if you are not is this camp or that camp then

What *is* unique about Apple, is their totalitarian ruling and
arrogance, plus the way they succeed at getting away with it. To put
it mildly, and to draw in a sports metaphor, Apple is simply not a
team player. Look, I like shiny objects too, but as tinkering geek, a
thick surface polish as camouflage just doesn't quite cut it - and it
scares me to live in a world where that is verboten.

People like their products alright, but it's not quite that simple.
The uncritical stigma surrounding Apple is fairly unique. Without
someone shouting "Don't be a sheep" to start questioning limitations
and boundaries, it's impossible for the average consumer to realize
what negatives are involved in the deal.

Example: Google just released HID support for Android as well as
hardware interfacing specs; no NDA, no license fee and no closed
source. Imagine what this means for interacting and intercommunicating
between devices. Apple has a similar hardware interfacing standard
going on, but their vision got stopped the moment marketing/product
people with their limited imagination, realized what could work as a
revenue channel.
