I think the real source of frustration is Apple's broken promises. - Steve Jobs announces that Apple will provide *the* best platform for Java developers, bar none - iOS terms/conditions restrict development to C/C++/Objective C, and forbid cross-compilation - OS-X drops Java binaries and support, sparking fears that OS-X will be restricted to the immature OpenJDK - The App-store is launched, Java applications are (once again) forbidden from entry Of course a community centred around the JVM is going to be frustrated with these decisions. Especially after the posse went through a period of devoting large chucks of podcast time to discussing Apple's products - it was like rubbing salt in the wound. > Some companies say there open source and there not. > > I love open source software, its rocks :) I use open source all the time. > > One reason that I love my Mac Book Pro is not it is based on open source > http://www.opensource.apple.com/ and its Unix :) which I love. > > But want I don't like is that if you are not is this camp or that camp then > we are going to be negative about that company. > > Consumers have picked Apple (Number #1 brand - report just came out) and > there is a correlation to the money, Apple would NOT have all this money if > people didn't like the products. > > :) > > > > > > > > > > 2011/5/12 Cédric Beust ♔ <[email protected]> > >> I find this pretty typical in discussions involving Apple.
