Mark,

do not despair.  You can definitely hook up an old DOS box to a home 
network if you have some tech savy and are not faint of heart.  you need 
the Microsoft Network Client for DOS which you can probably dig up on 
their site, and possibly the DOS drivers for your NIC card.

Just do a search on google with the following and you will find several 
walk-throughs of how to pull this off.

I don't blame Dave for saying it is probably not possible as it would 
definitely not be something that the majority of folks would want to 
bother with.  But impossible and improbable are not exactly the same 
thing.  *GRIN*
