Sorry I could not find Firefox 3.5.7 to try.
But for what is worth Firefox 4.0 beta, java 1.6 on an intel mac with 10.6.4
works fine.

We need someone to try this one last combination:
Java 1.5 Firefox 3.5.7/Mac -- GOOD (Bob)
Java 1.5 Firefox 3.6.8/Mac -- GOOD (Bob)
Java 1.6 Firefox 3.5.7/Mac -- ????
Java 1.6 Firefox 3.6.8/Mac -- BAD (Phil, Jay, Nick, Jeff)
Looks like that will do it. I can't seem to update Java on my Mac because the
web site says to go to the Mac software update tab, but the Mac software update
tab says I'm up to date...

I have not responded to Bugzilla. Waiting to hear what you think we should
say. I am off to a neighborhood picnic for a while. You need to take some
time off too!!
FYI: I have downloaded a fresh version of Firefox, to no avail.

OK, So now we have (on the Mac):
Phil: unsigned applet is requiring useCommandThread, then it works -- 3.6.8 and
Java 1.6.0_20 (I think)
Bob: works fine, with fresh Firefox 3.6.8 and Java 1.5.0_16
Jay: works, fine with fresh Firefox 3.6.8 and Java [what??]
Jeff: doesn't work with Firefox 3.6.8 and Java [what??] [Does that include the
NT3 page?]

Jeff, please try loading chlorophyll via the Jmol console by typing
load Structures/chlorophyll.pdb
into the Jmol applet console. I'm betting it loads.
