Hmm. A friend of mine who shall go nameless has a laptop he used at work that is going to be replaced. An IBM of recent vintage. His employer wishes to remove the perfectly good hard drive and crush it for reasons that shall go unstated. He could keep the rest. He asked me how much it would cost to have a new HD put in to it, and I was pessimistic that it could be done reasonably, because all my laptop update questions would have cost 75% of a new one.
