It cost me the price of the new HDD and the time to plug it into the laptop (not counting the time it then took to install the OS's, which to me does not fall into the same category). To have it done, it wouldn't take more than a few minutes and should be charged accordingly by the shop that does it. IIRC, D&J charged us $45 for the labor to install the new fan in my laptop (much more involved than a new HDD, which typically is far more accessible than a fan).
