really? Is this just because your TV doesn't display anything in this
mode or do you know something about the hardware/firmware design?

One thing pretty cool about the OLPC laptop is all the work put into
the display and wireless embedded firmware. On the XO, the CPU
can be turned off and yet the display still shows data and the wireless
mesh will still keep acting as a relay for other XOs in the area. This
is not something I've ever heard of a device manufacturer doing when
they have a mains power link connected 7/24.
