Keep in mind that I am still a 'wanna be', but it seems to me that if one were to take some 1" X 3 or 4" boards of the appropriate length, placed top and bottom, and use a couple of wood working clamps over the tabs/ailerons, Mark Jones attachment method would allow you to bend the tabs to your heart's content without damaging anything. i.e., the boards would take the load from bending... aluminum is pretty soft; 0.010" to 0.030" thick. Much thicker might be a problem. JMHO
