Hello,
I need advice from all of you. I finished translating UI of AOO 4.0 with
respecting existing terminology in previous translated version of AOO 3.3
in Serbian language. Some of translated terms are... well, there is some
space for polishing... I am thinking to change some of them. Now, the
question is: in next version of AOO, should I follow translated terminology
a) what I can find in Microsoft Office suit in Serbian language, or
b) existing Serbian terminology which I found in AOO?
If I follow Serbian terms in MS Office, the easier transitions will be for
all user who want to use AOO.
If I follow existing Serbian terminology in AOO in future, it will be
easier only for old users.
For wider picture I will give you some statistic data. In Serbia (7 milion
people) is downloaded for last one year about 75000 copies of AOO. I have
no data for MS Office but I assume that much much bigger part of cake has
MS.

Wlada
Most of the software terminology is similar or equal in every software
and the translation is (should be) the same. I'm thinking of:
Menus - File, Edit, Tools, Help and sub-options Settings, Print, Format,
Preferences, Options...;
Dialogs - Yes, No, Ok, Cancel...;
This type of terminology I think you should use whatever is more common
in Serbia. In every software. Try to imagine/create a local standart.
More specific cases I don't know. I mostly kept what was already
translated in previous versions for Portuguese-PT.
Regards,
Pedro.
