Subject: [labradoodles] Choosing a Dog
I am a Labradoodle Wanna-be for sure. I had a pet poodle when I was a teenager and he totally captivated me, and I also have had labrador guide dogs. I have to say, just the goofy sound of the name intrigued me, but when I got my last guide dog, there was a labradoodle in our class. I was hooked. I won't be able to get one for 2 or 3 years. I am bouncing between a labradoodle and a standard poodle. I have found it not easy to get people to talk about why they prefer one over the other. My current guide dog is what I call a goldador.
Anyway, I have faced lots of the same things, the very high price, reputable breeders too far away. Being blind, I sure don't want someone to pull any wool over my eyes (smile) and con me. I'm not in a rush and am taking my time, but more and more the labradoodle is being used as a guide dog. I'm enjoying hearing the adventures of blind people who have them. They appear to be a relatively vocal dog with lots of personality and I like that.
When I say vocal, many of my friends report that their dogs "sing" and are quite expressive as to what they like and don't. I like a nice communicative dog. I remember my pet had a vocal range not to be believed.
My goldador, however, is very very quiet, but she sure is communicative in other ways.
The labradoodle is just so foofy and sweet.
