You are so right Mary. I am not certain when it happened, I am pretty sure it was either at the time of the release of V7 or following an update shortly after. As Brian has previously acknowledged it has been on the list of bugs since then. Why, oh why nothing has been done about it I can't imagine. If it wasn't for the fact that I really like the Pedigree web format I would try some else.

I always add (_________) for any unknown names so I'd not noticed the 'Leave Blank' was no longer working! Yikes, Ron, this needs to be corrected. Few things are more exasperating than having a format option that doesn't work as expected. Mary ----------------------------- From: Ron Ferguson [mailto:[email protected]] Olwyn, I really do wish that I shared your confidence that the printing of ‘unknown’ would be corrected. The bur, and that is what it is, arose very shortly after version 7 was released and nothing has been done about it to date. The only work-around is to use a word processor and delete all instances of “ and unknownâ€, “ unknown and“ (note the space at the start of both and then “unknownâ€. A total pain in the neck! Ron Ferguson http://www.fergys.co.uk -------------------------------------- From: Olwyn Bourne My personal thanks to Mary and Ron. I think my install maybe a problem. The "leave blank" option is checked and I don't have access to the child status tab (greyed out). I do have the deluxe version but may have installed it badly. I have as suggested "reported a problem". I am confident I will have both these options working soon. Again my thanks for taking the time to help.
