Ok, good news! :-)

In fact switching from LessTif <older> to 0.92.x and so from libXm.so.1 to
libXm.so.2 as the default version was likely to cause harm - if not
within LessTif itself, then in applications using it.

Unfortunately we might have an even worse transition in future when
we go from our so-called Motif 2.0 to 2.1 by default: both libs might be referenced
as libXm.so.2, but will be binary incompatible ...
