I was talking about it from a political point of view not an
idealogical point of view. I do apreciate local control, but I don't
have some phobia of being walled out of Mexico either. We agree on
some things, disagree on others. I am in favor of open imigration in
theory but there are many issues to adress on the road to this
honorable goal. So I stand by my statement that political gains from
speaking out on the right thing to do will bring little gain if any
as it would alienate the closet protectionists while failing to grab
a substantial chunk of the democratic support. As a whole the party
would gain little. Individuals stand to gain alot however, especialy
a hispanic libertarian politician who wanted to use the moment for
instant political gains.

Im pro imigration terry, I am just saying it would not cause long
term increased success for the party at a national level. I can see
it doing alot for the party in southwestern states though. I was in
Texas for almost two years and I will be back there again soon, and
many of the nicest people I knew down there were Mexican migrants, I
know there not criminals or dangerous people but my stance on a need
to document imigrants and migrants remains becasue it is not only
Latine Americans who cross north over the Rio Grande. If you look
into past news you might find mention of the 4 Pakistani's who were
aprehended after slipping into Texas, and spent an absurdley long
time in US custody for being mere ilegal imigrants, as they were not
mere ilegal imigrants.

I never said stick our heads in the sand, I said flashing our
tailfeathers wont turn as many heads as the post I replied to
implied.
