Couple of things:
You can refer to the soundlevel itself, no need for a variable. That
means your two script could be:
--increase volume
on mouseUp
set the soundlevel to min(7,the soundlevel + 1)
end
--decrease volume
on mouseUp
set the soundlevel to max(0,the soundlevel - 1)
end
The soundlevel was originally a Mac feature that tied in with the
system's volume control, which had 8 levels to it. It may have worked
on some PC systems, or even all of them, but I'm not sure it's
guaranteed to give predictable results.
As it advises in the help, you should look at using the volume of
sound instead.
