I got
[lvgandhi@lvghomepc] ~$ slrn -C -h localhost
slrn 0.9.6.2 (Feb 7 2000 16:09:52)

Reading startup file /usr/lib/slrn/slrn.rc.
Reading startup file /home/lvgandhi/.slrnrc.
Using newsrc file .jnewsrc for server localhost.
Connecting to host localhost ...localhost: Unknown host.
slrn fatal error:

I saw nntp port is open. But how to know that leafnode is listening to
it.

The news server needs username and password. How to send the data in the
command line or any file.

Now when I use fetchnews I get error like this.
[root@lvghomepc] /home/lvgandhi# fetchnews -vvv
1.9.18: verbosity level is 3
Trying to connect to news.cis.dfn.de ... connected.
Getting new newsgroups from news.cis.dfn.de
Read server info from /var/spool/news/leaf.node/news.cis.dfn.de
Disconnected from news.cis.dfn.de.
This is inspite of the fact I have increased time to 60 secs. It doesn't
retrieve news. What can be the reason.
