# free will give current memory/swap usage. For tons of info goto the
/proc directory and it's various subdirectories. There you can gather
info on anything you wish. It's all there. Most apps of this genre are
just front ends to this info including network statistics.

Did you try "man mount" and "man fstab" (which you will find as further
readings in each other and did you look for NTFS?

man -tntfs /dev/xxx /mnt/ntfs

You must have the ntgs module or have it compiled into the kernel.

      This is a nice project, but I prefer Mastodon. I see that the
      DaemonLinux people are now, like me, using OpenBSD as their source
      for BSD utilities; This will make it easier for us to steal ideas
      from each other.

      Unfortunately, their web page is broken today (the ftp links point
      to never-there-was) and the mailing list has been V-E-R-Y Q-U-I-E-T
      for a long time now. You're mentioned in the working parts of the
      page, so do you know if the project is active but hasn't updated
      the web pages for a while (this is also a problem with Mastodon,
      though I'm doing a source dump today), or if the smoke has been
      let out of it?

                    ____
      david parsons \bi/ And there's a shipping version of Mastodon,
                     \/           if you don't mind 140mb downloads.

Hi, Real Player 5.0 for Linux is not working on my linux box (kernel
2.2.10) But it works on earlier kernel. The symptom is the playback
continues for only 1-2 seconds and the image is severely distorted. The I
get the error message " General error 1". Any one has simular experience?
What's the fix? Thanks in advance.

You have your choice of evil or stupidity, but that the right supports

Oh, so the fact that billionaire families who have inherited their
wealth own or control virtually everything in America is "propaganda".
The fact that owners, advertisers and editors work together to shift
the mass media to the right is "propaganda". The fact that US foreign
policy looks like it was made by Genghis Khan is "propaganda". Thank
you for straightening that out for me.

Has there ever been one? :) No seriously, you won't find an zImage option for the
Alpha anywhere, except if you modify the Makefile. But you don't need to, and
anyway, why are you looking for the zImage? When you compile the kernel you just
say 'make' and not 'make zImage' like on the other platforms and you will get the
new kernel called vmlinux. If you want a compressed kernel image then gzip the
vmlinux file.

Are there others utilities (other than top, ps) that allows you to see
what are loaded in memory???
,,,
I don't know any application that can do all the things you want. You can use
Qps, a Qt based ps/top with memory/swap/cpu usage and uptime. It's really a
good application. Other options are Gtop (Gnome) and Ktop (KDE). Just use
/proc for the rest.

  I had a similar problem, although it wasn't with Netscape. I simply
linked the 2.8 to 2.9 and it worked just fine. Try the following:

ln -s libstdc++.so.2.9 libstdc++.so.2.8 within the directory where the
lib is found :)

Hi,

I've a little problem.

I've a program wich execute 4 other programs, with system(), and for the 4
programs stdout and stderr are redirected in /root/stdout.txt.

like this

in my program :

    -> system("/usr/bin prog1 1>>/root/stdout.txt 2>>/root/stdout.txt");
    -> system("/usr/bin prog2 1>>/root/stdout.txt 2>>/root/stdout.txt");
    -> system("/usr/bin prog3 1>>/root/stdout.txt 2>>/root/stdout.txt");
    -> system("/usr/bin prog4 1>>/root/stdout.txt 2>>/root/stdout.txt");

the 4 programs is still running, doesn't stop.

So when i execute myprogram, the stdout.txt file is created but there is
nothing into. I must stop my program to see information into stdout.txt.

the problem is my program can't be stopped.

Help me please...

  I had a similar problem, although it wasn't with Netscape. I simply
linked the 2.8 to 2.9 and it worked just fine. Try the following:

ln -s libstdc++.so.2.9 libstdc++.so.2.8 within the directory where the
lib is found :)
,,,
ln-s isn't allways a good idea. But I really wonder WTF SuSE, a serious
Linux distribution shipped a Netscape that doesn't work without this. Oh.

(using a new/old libstdc++ version with e.g KDE isn't good too).

Thanks for the responses I got. fdisk did what cfdisk couldn't do.
