Of course! I installed Chinese and Korean font for my Japanese
version of Windows. Problem is the mechanism to choose proper font,
if difference of CJK characters are to be handled by different font.
Chinese text _must_ be displayed with Chinese font. Japanese text
_must_ be displayed with Japanese font. This is because they are
regarded as different _characters_. This is like, English text
_must_ be displayed with Latin font and Greek text _must_ be displayed
with Greek font. Displaying Japanese text with Chinese font is
_wrong_.
And note that both Chinese and Japanese are _living languages_,
not like Fraktur. Fraktur font is not likely to be a default font
for "world version" OSes. On the other hand, which should be the
default font, Chinese or Japanese, for "world version" OSes?
Assume here is a plain text file in Unicode. Which font should a
software choose, Roman or Fraktur? Of course Roman, because Fraktur
is dead character. Then, which font should a software choose, Chinese
or Japanese? Nobody knows. The software may guess from user's
locale setting (In most cases, Japanese users read Japanese text
and not Chinese text) and so on. However, such a 'guess' is wrong.

Who is your "East Asian experts"? Are you a good friend of them?
Have you talked with them? I am an adult native Japanese speaker
who is born in Japan and is educated in Japanese schools. I have
ability to speak, hear, read, and write Japanese language in
Japanese average level. Do you think I am a liar? I am very
annoyed being directed about my mother tongue by a foreigner.
