Your post shows *exactly* the kind of "linux user" mentality that's
going around, and why the linux desktop idea will always fail to
come through.

The OP submitted a link that describes a person that wants his
computers do *do something for him*, instead of him having to
dick around with stuff just to get things *barely working*.

The current linux desktop situation is a damn lot better than it
was 10 years ago, mostly due to Canonical. But, at the end of
the day, people want to turn on their computers, run applications,
and have it operate the best way possible, which just doesn't
happen with Linux today.

If you can't see past the ongoing issues, you're pretty much a
helpless Linux zealot (fanboi).

The day that we have people that realize that the OS is just a
tool to do the task at hand, and stop ostracizing users from
the other camp, then we'll have a world that can actually
progress...
