Michael, I only drive my bike at the strip, but a license is technically necessary. I went to this shady guy in a parking lot and rode his moped around for $40. Plus had to pass the written at the DMV.
A couple of buddys of mine went to a two day class at a college. Might be good if you want/need to learn some things. Couple different options.
