I used to have an m class license for my moped years ago and let lapse
because well, I hadn't had a moped in over 6 years.    I never took a
class for it, I just went in read the book and took the written test.  I
was wondering though if the electric bikes require the moped license or
the motorcycle license. But then again different states have different
rules, so I guess this should be aimed at the folks in Texas.

Here in Michigan there's two things that define a moped. It has to be 50cc and less and it can't go faster than 30 mph. I think. Don't quote me on that. Since we're riding electrics, I think I'd worry about the speed thing. If one had to, I suppose one could tell the controller to limit the power during inspection...
