Hello, it's Peter here, and welcome to Tuesday's Levy letter, I hope your day's going well, and you'll be able to join me tonight on BBC One at six thirty. We'll have all the day's news
Carbon Monoxide levels in Hull City Centre are at their highest for three years, and we're going to be taking a look into the role of cars and roadworks in the pollution. The environment and pollution are always in the news at the moment, so that's certainly an important issue. We'll show you one of the biggest fish ever found at Hull Docks. I'm sure this'll send some keen anglers out with their rods And we'll meet the Bridlington girl and her dog taking the lead in the musical Annie. That show is of course on now in the Hull New Theatre. Also on the programme, we have the Lincolnshire religious leader calling for Halloween to be banned. Some people of course see Halloween as a harmless bit of fun, while others see it as a nuisance, and I'm sure this is sure to get a big response on the texts and emails. Of course Paul will have the forecast, and I'll have a bit of a chat with him too. Emails Thanks for the emails on a variety of subjects, if you want to drop me a line, then please feel free. Also, if you've got a problem, or an issue that you think we can deal with on the programme, or on Leave it to Levy, then the address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Remember to give me your telephone number as well. Events Don't forget, if you've got an event coming up in the run up to Christmas that's for charity, and you'd like a plug in the Levy Letter, or something that's just for charity like we did last night for Appleby, then give me the details and I'll give you a mention in the letter one day. Smile The latest thing is a snap on smile. It works like a set of temporary veneers that can be worn over your regular teeth, giving the impression that you have the perfect Hollywood smile. An impression is made of your mouth, and sent with photographs to a laboratory in California, and the snap on smile is made. It'll cost you between £950, and £1500. Everyone wants a pearly white smile of course, and if you're not born with a perfect set of teeth, then veneers can cost you upwards - can you believe this - of £15,000. So you can get the snap on smile now for £1500. Come Dancing BBC One's Come Dancing was interesting viewing on Saturday night. Loads of emails on this subject, most people saying that Brendan Cole was right to have an outburst. He had a bit of an outburst after he danced with Claire King at the judges for their inconsistency. Lots of emails on that. Some people were not happy, thought it was bickering and arguing, and unnecessary. If you've got any views on Come Dancing, and Brendan Cole's outburst on Saturday night, then drop me a line at the usual address, and I'll have a read. Diet We've talked about diets recently, both on the programme, and in the letter. A chap called Stephen Kay, He's just lost 16 stone of them thanks to a diet of stock cubes! 39 year old Stephen used to weigh in at more than 31 stone. He swapped fry ups, pies, and pasties, and pints of lager for three bowls of stock cube broth a day. He's lost 16 stone, can you believe that? Within a year the Cornishman's slimmed down to 15 stone, and lost two foot from his waist, from belt size 60 to 36.He says the weight just flew off. I'm sure it's not something that should be recommended, but for those who are desperate, if you fancy a bowl of broth, that's how he managed to do it. Premium Bonds I had two premium bonds as a child, and I used to think I was it! You never heard about premium bonds in those days, although kids were bought them as little presents. Well premium bonds are 50 years old this week, so they actually started just after I was born. Well more bonds have been sold in the past 5 years than in the whole 45 years before that put together, which is extraordinary. They've suddenly become very fashionable and trendy as people get into the swing of trying to win money. So there we are, happy birthday to the premium bond, as old as me! Celebrating their 50th birthday this week. Children in need Only a few weeks from Children in Need now, Friday the 17th of November. This year, Children in Need is coming from the Deep in Hull if you want to make it along and Meet Caroline Davis and Pudsey Bear. The evening of Children in Need is at the Deep. And don't forget, the Sunday before that is An Evening with Peter Levy. Paul will be there as well, and that's on Sunday the 12th of November at the Hull Truck Theatre. If you're coming along then I look forward to seeing you there. The money being raised from the sale of the tickets is of course going to Children in Need. Pictures I mentioned it briefly on the telly last night, but if you've got a photograph that you're proud of that you think we could use on the programme, then send it to me. Let me have a hard copy, or send it electronically and let me have it, and we'll show it on the programme. Send it to the usual address, and of course if there's anyone you know that's not signed up to the Levy Letter and they'd like one, then get them to go to one of the two addresses at the bottom of the page, and sign up. Thanks for reading, have a good afternoon, and join me tonight at half past six. Bye for now.
