Hello and welcome to Tuesdays Levy Letter, I hope you’re having a good day,
hope you can join me tonight at 6.30 for Look North. On the programme tonight
we’ll ask is the future of the Red Arrows now assured? Well the shadow defence
minister seems to think so. He'll be telling us why.

Every year hundreds of whales, dolphins and other marine mammals are stranded
along our coastline... now an animal ambulance is planned for our region. It’s
always a tragic sight to see animals beached and suffering, and hopefully this
new team will be able to save much more of them.

Is it a green light to speeding drivers? We'll be looking at plans in East
Yorkshire to stop fining all drivers caught by speed cameras. If you have
anything to say about this or any other story on the programme then we’ll be
giving out our contact details later as usual.

We'll be asking whether graffiti is harmless artistic expression or whether
it's anti-social behaviour that's blighting our streets. We'll have a special
report from Hull about efforts there to stamp out graffiti.

And also on the show tonight I'll be speaking to Alan Lowes, a Lincolnshire
portrait artist who's making quite a name for himself. He wants me to be his
next subject! He’s obviously a man of impeccable taste.

Also Lisa Gallagher will have the weather forecast today.

Brolly

Well it looks like a Stealth Bomber, but it’s the answer to those who find that
when there’s a strong gust of wind your umbrella falls apart. This new brolly
looks a bit odd, but it can withstand gale force winds and the rain won’t drip
on you. It’s a new invention and it will last a life time. It costs £30. It
does seem a lot for an umbrella, but think how many other ones we keep buying
only to be wrecked in the wind. From my vantage point in
Queens Court I often see people outside struggling with their brollys in the
wind. Last night at Victoria dock would have been a great test for the brolly,
it was very very windy all night. Also when I got home last night at 7.30, in
my five years in Hull I’ve never seen the water so high, it was washing over on
to the pavement at the waters edge at the dock. It looked very dramatic.

Pictures

Don't forget if you've got any photos or if you take any pictures that you
think would look good on the show then send them to me at the usual
address..... and if you have a problem or an issue you think we can tackle on
the show then just drop me the line to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Internet

People are so happy that we have the internet and even just yesterday there was
a report saying that many people are finding love and friends in their sixties
on the net. But what about food shopping, there are no queues at the checkout
and no heavy bags to carry home. But it appears that internet shopping is still
a big disappointment to many customers, according to a new survey. Less that
thirty per cent of people felt satisfied with overall service from online
supermarkets. What do you think about this one? I don’t think I actually know
anyone who has their groceries delivered on line. On this and anything else let
me know what you think.

Showbiz

I’ve said before in the letter how much I like Charlotte Church. I first
interviewed her when she was the voice of an angel and just at school and she
sounded pretty smart then and my how that has given her a great career and a
huge bank balance. I wasn’t sure about her chat show when it started and said
so in the letter, but I’ve been proved very wrong and she’s doing very well
with the all important TV ratings. Anyway now the news is that she has
announced that she is pregnant to her boyfriend the rugby player Gavin Henson.
We wish her well.

Showbiz family

We had a great showbiz family on the sofa last night from Beverley. Mum and Dad
are in the business and now their daughter Eleanor has got a bit part in the
much hyped film The Illusionist.... what a great achievement that is her name
is Eleanor
Tomlinson and I reckon that she is one to watch.... a huge talent.

Story

Just recently many of the stories we have done on the programme have been ones
that have been sent in from people who watch the show, if you have a story or
an issue that you think our team should be investigating or that you think will
affect a lot of people then get in touch and give me the details and we'll try
and investigate. You can email me anytime and I will get the email straight
away or if you don’t want to do that and its important ring me at the BBC
please on 01482 323232.

Orchestra

Finally, we have several very good bands and orchestras in our part of the
world. Well a bizarre survey showed which instrument players are likely to be
the best lovers... it seems that if you play the cello you’re the best lover
followed by players of the piano and percussion, and then conductors. Least
good in the love department are players of the tuba.
Also tuba players are the ones most likely to be single followed by the flute
and then the bass. As I often say, you couldn’t make it up.

That’s it from me for today, thanks for reading the letter and have a good
afternoon. Join me as usual tonight at 6.30 on BBC One.

Bye for now

Peter
