Hello, it's Peter here and welcome to Monday's Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well. It’s the start of another week. I'll have all the day's news and
Paul will be here tonight and will have the forecast at half past six.

On tonight's programme, we'll be at Hull Royal Infirmary to find out why
they've taken on a new member of staff to train nurses to fight off violent
patients. Plus we'll be speaking with the brides, who have found themselves
thousands of pounds out of pocket, after a Hull hotel went into receivership.
We'll be talking with Stamford shopkeepers, who claim that they will be forced
out of business by the redevelopment of the town centre. And we’ll be taking a
trip to one Lincolnshire village that's still plagued by the stench of sewage
six months after a waterworks exploded. More on these later.

Also tonight I'll be meeting the twelve year old entrepreneur, who's set up his
own recycling business on the East coast. It’s an incredible success story for
him, so join me tonight to hear his tale. And he’s the oldest regular at the
bar. We'll be in the pub where a skull has been eyeballing drinkers for decades
and will finally be telling its story tonight. I hope you'll be able to join me
tonight on BBC One at half past six.

Weekend

Whatever you had planned at the weekend, then I hope it went well. If you had
something special planned or even if you had nothing at all planned, then I
hope it was relaxing. The days are getting longer now and spring is here. There
are many events planned for the weekend. If you’re involved in one of them and
it’s for charity, then let me know and give me the details and I should be able
to give you a plug in the Levy Letter in the coming week. It’s the same address
as usual - [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It’s a very busy summer. There are some major events coming up and one of them,
which I’ve just been talking about, is the Humber Half Marathon. It’s at the
end of June and is on a Sunday morning. Paul and I will both be there to start
the race off. And that’s where my contribution ends!! I won’t be donning any
running trainers! So that’s the Humber Half Marathon on Sunday 24th June. If
you’re around that Sunday morning, then I look forward to seeing you there. And
if you’re taking part, then I hope your training is going well. I hope it’s
going to be a nice warm day for it.

Stars In Your Eyes

Last Saturday, I was at the New Theatre for BBC Radio Humberside and Look
North’s Stars In Your Eyes event. A lot of money was raised for Comic Relief.
Red Nose Day is this Friday. One of the judges on Stars In Your Eyes was Sue
Hodge, who played Mimi Le Bonk in ‘Allo ‘Allo. And I didn’t realise and she
didn’t say anything at the time, but I read since that the TV programme ‘Allo
‘Allo is set to make a return. The BBC has confirmed that the show will be back
with Gordon Kaye as Rene. It was last on the screen in 1992. Now most of the
original cast are set to return for a one off show for BBC Two, which will be
shot in front of a live studio audience at Manchester. All these years later
and the programme is back. There were questions, only two or three years ago,
why they never show repeats of ‘Allo ‘Allo and some people said that it was
because it isn’t politically correct. So maybe, the wheel has turned now,
because this show is coming back. And I was reading over the weeke!
nd about the life of John Inman. He was a very funny comedy actor, who sadly
died last week. He was best known for playing Mr Humphries. He got a lot of
stick from some of the organisations saying he didn’t portray homosexuals in a
good light. Nevertheless, he was a hugely funny man and we shall miss him
immensely. He was a great comedy actor – John Inman, who died on Thursday.

Snoring

I’ve talked about snoring before in the Levy Letter. It’s an issue that always
gets people going with their views on it and their tips on how to avoid it.
Well, if you’re feeling slightly bleary eyed as you read this, then the chances
are that you are living with a snorer. A study has shown that partners of
millions of snorers are kept awake for two hours each night thanks to the noise
from the other side of the bed. Does it sound familiar? And that adds up to
losing an astonishing two years sleep during the average course of a marriage.
Can you believe that? If you’re married to a snorer, then in a lifetime you
lose two years worth of sleep. Snoring can have a very negative impact on the
people, who have to live with it, according to the British Snoring and Sleep
Apnoea Association. Many believe that they make mistakes at work as a direct
result of being kept awake at night through living with a snorer. If you’ve got
any cures or any tips for dealing with noisy nasal passag!
es, then let me know! Get in touch and I’ll pass them onto readers of the Levy
Letter. I’m sure there are many people out there in need of some advice!

Silver Surfers

We’ve talked many times about the number of people, who are in their sixties
and seventies, who are on the computer every evening surfing the net. Well, now
it seems that we’re on two wheels as well. Actually I should say they’re on two
wheels! I shouldn’t put myself in that group just yet! A rapidly growing army
of grannies is taking to the road on motorbikes. A survey by the AA has shown
that more than a fifth of female motorcyclists are now above retirement age.
Can you believe that? A fifth are above retirement age. There are many stories
of women in their mid-seventies, who have got motorbikes, because they find
them a lot easier to pop to the shops on. They’re dubbing them Hell’s Grannies!

Well, that's it from me for today. Have a very good start to the week. Don’t
forget, if you know anyone, who’s not signed up to the Levy Letter, then point
them in the direction of either one of the two addresses at the bottom of the
page. Tell them to click on one of those and sign up. They’ll then get their
first daily email from me from tomorrow. And if you know of anyone, who’s got a
problem that you think I could deal with on the programme, then let me know.
Drop me a line at the usual address of [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Have a very good afternoon and join me tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm.

Bye for now,

Peter
