Hello, it's Peter here and welcome to Tuesday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and I hope you'll be able to join me tonight on BBC One at half past
six. I'll have all the day's news and Lisa will have the forecast.

On tonight's programme, we'll be reporting on the controversial cog logo for
the city that cost Hull hundreds of thousands of pounds. It was brought in to
reinvent the image of the city and to promote it to visitors. Now it is finally
being ditched for the traditional three crowns, which had previously served for
centuries and has long been associated with the city’s sports teams.

Also tonight, we'll have the latest from Lincolnshire Police as they hunt the
murderer of a man from Boston. And we'll be on a Scunthorpe housing estate
where we recorded scenes of vandalism and anti social behaviour last year. Now
the police and local community say it's all been turned around for the better.
That’s tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm. I hope you can join me then.

Showbiz

Well, it’s a big night tonight for the Hessle Theatre Company. They’re doing
the premiere of Titanic The Musical. It’s some show for an amateur group to
stage. I believe there is only one set of Titanic The Musical available in the
country. They’ve hired it in. It starts tonight at the Hull New Theatre in
Kingston Square at half past seven. There’s a matinee on Saturday at two
o’clock as well. So we wish lots of luck to the Hessle Theatre Company and for
more on that, then join me tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm. I’ll be speaking to
one of the stars tonight, called Christopher Corbetts. He’s got a part in the
musical about the doomed ship, but believe it or not, one of his descendents
was actually working on the Titanic. I’ll be talking to him tonight. If you’re
going tonight, then enjoy and all the very best to the cast and crew. What an
ambitious show!

Still on the subject of showbiz news and musicals, Connie Fisher is back in the
news again with the Sound of Music. She’s been off for a couple of weeks, as I
mentioned a while back, due to problems with her voice. Now she’s back and
she’s allegedly singing with a click track, where there’s a digitally enhanced
recording of music and voice. There seems to be a little bit of a furore over
this as some people are saying, if you’re paying £50 plus for a ticket, then
you don’t expect to listen to someone singing to a CD of someone’s voice. So
that’s Connie Fisher allegedly singing to a click track of her own voice in the
Sound Of Music in the West End in London.

I see that the Scottish folk twins, The Proclaimers, have got a number one
single today at last. Even if it is quite a few years since their 1980s hit
‘I’m Going To Walk 500 Miles’. This time, although it was a hit last time, it’s
now at number one thanks to the vocals of Little Britain character, Andy
Pipkin, played by Matt Lucas and also Peter Kay from Phoenix Nights as Brian
Potter. The original Proclaimers’ song only reached number eleven, but the two
comics have taken it to the top of the chart at number one this week. And all
the money from the sale of this song this time around is going to Comic Relief
and it’s out to buy at the moment.

Arctic Corsair

I’ve mentioned this before, but Hull’s last sidewinder trawler, the Arctic
Corsair, is open again this summer. If you haven’t been, then it’s well worth a
visit. It’s a great treat to be able to look around it. It’s the last of the
sidewinder trawlers here in Hull. The Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Trevor
Larson, carried out the opening ceremony at the weekend. The city centre
museum, which is now open for the summer season, has been painstakingly
restored. It is well worth a visit. If you’ve not been, then get yourself down
one day in the summer.

Patches

A patch to help women regain their sex drive will become available on the
health service this week. The makers say it could change the lives of hundreds
of thousands of women in the way that Viagra has done for men. It’s called
Intrinsa and it will initially only be available on prescription for women, who
have been diagnosed with sexual problems. GPs will prescribe it on the NHS and
women will pay £6.65 for the prescription charge. However, it is likely that
the patches will later become lifestyle drugs bought freely over the counter by
women, who simply want to increase their libido.

Emails

Don’t forget, if you’ve got a story that you think we should know about or
something that you’d like me to investigate, then let me know and drop me a
line. Give me the details and let me know how I can help. The address, as
always, is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Email me any time or if it’s really urgent and
important, then just give me a ring at the BBC in Hull on 01482 323232.

Well, Keith Sanders from the Northcote Heavy Horse Centre in Great Steeping in
Lincolnshire emailed the Look North email at the weekend to ask for some help.
He writes, “Easter opening is a critical time for an animal sanctuary. All
through the winter the money is pouring out and income is normally at its
lowest ebb. Unlike funfairs and caravan sites animals need to eat and be cared
for all year round. And big animals eat a huge amount and when they need pills
they need dozens at a time! Sammy our oldest horse for example is on
Prednisalone tablets to help him breathe better. If humans need Prednisalone
they normally have about 1 to 4 tablets daily. Sammy on the other hand has 50
every day, that’s enough to put the average human out like a light. But he is a
big chap and he is only one of our older residents! In fact we spoke to the
local hospital pharmacy last year about Prednisalone quantities and found out
that we use more per week than the average hospital!” That’s just!
amazing isn’t it? Thanks Keith for emailing in and letting me know about
that. Well, I’d love to help in some way, so here’s a little plug in the Levy
Letter for the Northcote Heavy Horse Centre in Great Steeping. If you’re about
in Lincolnshire, then I’m sure that’s well worth a visit to look at these
incredible working horses. So go along and take a look. And best wishes to all
who work with these incredible horses.

Well, that's it from me for today. Enjoy your afternoon and join me tonight for
Look North at the usual time of half past six.

Bye for now,

Peter
