Hello and welcome to today’s Levy Letter for Wednesday. We’re halfway through
the week and it seems to be getting colder as we go. I hope you’re wrapping up
warm. We’ll have the latest forecast on the programme later of course, and also
on the programme today we'll hear about the Grimsby fireman struck on the head
with a piece of fencing in the latest in a series of attacks on the brigade's
officers.

We’ll be asking what now for Woodford? There are concerns as one of Hull's most
important sports facilities could be closed because of flood damage.

And we’ll report on why the famous stately home Burghley House is a big hit in
the movies.

We'll be meeting the boy they’re calling the Kamikaze Kid, he's a 12 year old
schoolboy who's just won his second British motorcycling title.

Plus find out why your business could be in trouble if you use a radio at work.
That’s all coming up on Look North tonight at half past six on BBC One, I hope
you can join me then.

We had a huge response on our hotlines, email, and text last night on our story
about parking fines at hospitals. Thank you for all of those, especially the
stories of your experiences. It’s always good when we find a story or an issue
that really affects a lot of people, and we like to see what we can do to help.
If you have anything to let us know about for the programme or a comment you’d
like to make on one of our stories, you can reach Look North on [EMAIL
PROTECTED], and we’ll give our text and hotline numbers out on the programme.

WAGs

Well I don’t know if this means anything to you, but apparently, WAGs stands
for the wives and girlfriends of famous footballers. That goes slightly over my
head to be honest, but it seems not a lot goes over theirs. The glamorous,
shopping addicted partners of high earning footballers are not as dumb as
people like to think they are. According to the government Learning and Skills
Council, some of the highest profile WAGs set a good example to teenagers
through their academic achievements. Yes, that’s right, in addition to
attending film premiers and posing in magazines, footballers’ partners study
law, hold degrees in business, and Coleen McLoughlin, the girlfriend of England
star Wayne Rooney – that’s what it says here anyway – holds ten GCSE
qualifications. However, perhaps the footballer’s wife we all know about,
Victoria Beckham, wasn’t a big academic success at school. So if you’re the
glamorous wife or girlfriend of a successful footballer, you can still be
brainy an!
d get qualifications. Perhaps the opposite is also true, and if you’re a hard
working academic success, never fear, you too could one day marry a millionaire
sports person and live a life of expensive shops and leisure…

Chocolate Factory

Well there seem to be plenty of chocolate based pieces in the news this week,
and this one’s quite an inspiring success story. A 15 year old boy with severe
dyslexia has become a successful chocolate entrepreneur, now running his own
factory and with contracts to supply some of the country’s biggest supermarket
chains this Christmas. It’s an incredible story given how young he is, and also
the fact that he left school when he was 11 due to his dyslexia, and started
out with a 12oz chocolate machine making confectionary for friends and family.
He’s now so successful that his parents now work for him full time, and one of
his employees is his former home tutor.
I just hope he treats his employees well, imagine working for your 15 year old
son! But that’s a fantastic story, his factory in Shropshire is producing
hundreds of chocolates, and I’m sure he’ll be a huge success.

I’ve just got room for a plug here for the Petuaria Players of Brough in East
Yorkshire who are performing Plaza Suite by Neil Simon, this Thursday, Friday
and Saturday 25th, 26th and 27th October at Elloughton Village Hall.
Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets cost just £5 with a programme and
refreshments thrown in. Call 01482 668610 for more details, and I’m told
they’ve recently been kitted out with some new facilities, and new mugs for the
refreshments! So if you can make it to one of those performances, I hope you
have a wonderful time, thank you to Dianne from the players who sent me that.

Well that’s it from me for today, have a good afternoon, I hope you enjoy the
rest of the day and join me for tonight’s Look North at half past six on BBC
One.

Bye for now

Peter
