Hi there, it’s Peter here. It’s the final day of the week and we’ve got a very
busy programme for you. Tonight, we'll be meeting the Hull mother, who is
worried about fire evacuation guidelines at her disabled son's primary school
after he was left in a stairwell during a fire alarm. We’ll be asking if
evacuation guidelines are suitable for disabled children in our schools.

Also tonight, as tributes are paid to the Tornado navigator, who was killed
this week in a training accident, we'll be getting the latest on the
investigation and how it's affecting the local community.

And we'll be logging on with the Hull students, trying to interest other young
people with their political website.

And for Children In Need, we'll be getting the run down on all your fundraising
activities for Pudsey and finding out where your money goes in helping local
charities. Look North will be on the road tonight. Join us if you can live for
Look North at City Square in Lincoln. We’ll be taking a look at the big
observation wheel in the city. Lots of events will be going on. The Redemption
Choir from Hull will be performing, along with the Theatre Royal School in
Lincoln. There’ll be a samba band, a jive fusion band and the stars of
Lincoln’s pantomime will be with us also. There’ll be live performance with
eighty children performing in a Joseph sing-a-long. They’ll be live in our
national programme tonight singing along with five other regions across the
country. Can you believe that? So lot’s going on. Our BBC buses will be down
there, so you can bring your donations down to the City Square. Although if
you’d prefer to bank your donations first, so you don’t have to travel about!
with the cash, then take your money into any high street bank. There’s lots
more information about how to get the money to Children In Need on our website
– bbc.co.uk/pudsey. The donation line is 0845 733 22 33 to make your pledge.

And lots of you have been emailing in this week to let us know about events
that you’re organising for Pudsey. Hilary Graham from Brigg says, “Here’s
something different. My granddaughters, Daisy and Erika Smith, aged seven and
four, are going to cycle on the Humber Bridge in the dark on Friday.” Well,
that’s a huge achievement for them I’m sure. Good luck to Daisy and Erika on
the bike ride and best wishes to the parents too as I’m sure they’ll not be too
far behind them on the Bridge tonight as well!

Sarah Tollemache has emailed in – “The Sixth Form students at John Smeaton
Community college have been fund raising all week for Children in Need. From
lunch time activities, to a carwash, also a PJ "flag walk" to Crossgates
shopping centre, which takes place on Thurday 15th November. On Friday 16th
November, we are holding an eye patch and shades day.” So presumably all the
sixth form students at John Smeaton Community college will be reading their
little plug with just one eye on show! Well done to them.

Miss Lyndsey Byrne, who’s the Year 3 teacher at Cavendish Primary school in
Hull have told me they’re wearing their pyjamas for school all day tomorrow and
that includes the teachers too! She says, “We are having a fun day and are also
doing a money trail around the school to raise money for Children in Need!!”
Hello to Lyndsey and all the pupils at Cavendish Primary.

This one comes from Melanie and David Hirst. “Dear Look North, We would like to
let you know what we are doing at our pub for Children in Need. We are the
Plough at Burton Salmon. We are holding a charity casino and charity auction,
raffle & disco on Friday night. It’s £5 per ticket including supper & fun money
to play the casino tables. All prizes have been generously donated by local
businesses and people and all proceeds to go to Children in Need. It would be
great if we could get a mention.” So Melanie and David, here’s your plug! Well
done for all your efforts tonight.

And here’s a lovely email from Diane. She writes, “My daughter Abbie is five
years old. She has been sent home from school today, because she was ill. She
is devastated, because for Children in Need, Neasden Primary School are
dressing up as their favourite sports stars. Abbie said she wanted to dress up
as a race for life runner. Abbie completed this year’s Race for Life with
myself, her ten year old sister and friends in aid of Sophie's dad, who died of
cancer last year (Sophie is ten). Tomorrow Abbie wanted to wear her race for
life T-shirt and her medal, but unfortunately she has been laid out like a
zombie with a tummy bug that has knocked her for six. Abbie's bedroom window
backs onto the school and I am hoping she does not see Pudsey as he is visiting
the Neasden pre-school where I work. Is it possible to send her an e-mail or a
mention to cheer her up.” Poor Abbie, missing out on seeing Pudsey. Well, I
hope you get better soon Abbie!

Well, it’s been a Letter full of Children In Need today. Lots going on all
across our region and of course the country. It’s always amazing how much money
is raised for the cause and then even more wonderful when you see where the
money goes. And lots of money does go to charities and organisations in our
region. So well done to everyone, who’s either organising or taking part in an
event or who is just donating a few spare coins from their pocket… it all
helps!

I hope you can join Hannah and Caroline and the rest of the Look North team
down in Lincoln tonight. Wrap up warm, because I think it’s going to be chilly
tonight! I hope Caroline and Hannah have their thermal long johns with them!

Take care and have a good weekend,

Peter
