Good afternoon! Well, I survived last night with my very croaky voice. I was
reminded by our technical team of a story of the national presenter, Anna Ford,
completely losing her voice during the one o’clock lunchtime news. She was left
completely unable to say anything, so the floor manager had to grab a very
flustered Sophie Raworth to come and step in for her! Apparently, she had just
got into the office and had no make-up whatsoever! Well, I wasn’t as bad as
that, but let’s hope I’m not so croaky tonight!

Thanks for all your messages and emails last night – they were mainly about the
big skyscraper planned for Hull and also the plans to promote our region to
host parts of the 2012 Olympic games. Thanks for your messages.

On tonight's programme, as the region's pig farmers highlight their worries at
Westminster about the future of their industry, we'll be reporting from London
to find out if today's action will make any difference.

Also tonight, Look North will be asking if the experimental no car day in
Boston really worked to help sort out the town's traffic problems. A
documentary is due to be shown later today about this radical experiment and on
Look North today, to coincide with the airing of this programme, we’ll examine
the progress towards building a bypass for the town.

We'll be live at Blundell Park as Grimsby Town try to book their return to
Wembley for the first time in ten years. We’ll be hearing from Mariners past
and present and will have all the build up to the big match.

Look North will have an exclusive insight into the work involved in running a
steam railway. Look North will have a special report from the Lincolnshire
Wolds Railway at Ludborough, where we can give you a special glimpse at a
unique loco.

And we'll be asking if you want an Edinburgh military-style Tattoo at Lincoln
Castle? We'll put that question today to residents in the city and find out if
they think there should be a new event in Lincoln's event calendar. We’ll want
your opinion too! So join me tonight on BBC One at half past six. Email or text
in during the programme with your thoughts, or leave a message on our hotline
after the show. I’ll give you all the contact details on the programme.

Help

Here’s a little request for help. I’d love to be able to help with this one if
possible. It’s an email from Malcolm Barrass – “I am a teacher in Hull, but in
my spare time I run a website from my home in Hornsea covering the history of
the RAF. I have recently received an email request through my website from a
fellow teacher, who I believe is working in Russia, to locate information about
his great uncle, Flt Lt John Blair DFC, who was a Jamaican navigator with No
102 Squadron at Pocklington during WW2. He would have been an unusual sight at
that time as there were few Jamaican officers in the RAF. The officer’s great
nephew, Mark Johnson, is coming over to the UK in March and I am going to meet
up with him in Pocklington and in preparation for this, I wondered if an appeal
could be made on Look North for anyone in the Pocklington area, who might
remember John Blair, who could meet up with us.” So there’s Malcolm’s story. Do
you remember this Jamaican navigator with No 102!
Squadron at Pocklington? I’m sure somebody must. If you do, then email me and
I’ll pass you on to Malcolm. You can email me direct on [EMAIL PROTECTED] I
look forward to hearing from you.

Well, I shall go and gargle some hot lemon!

Take care and enjoy your day,

Tim
