Hi there, it’s Peter here. We’ve got a busy programme for you tonight. We'll be
asking if the economic dream for foreign migrants working in East Yorkshire and
Lincolnshire is turning into a nightmare as we investigate why Polish workers
are turning their back on our region and heading home to Poland.

Also tonight, after new figures from the RSPCA show that attacks on pets with
air guns is rising, we'll be speaking with a Scunthorpe woman, whose pet cat
paid the ultimate price after a vicious attack. We’ll have her story on the
programme tonight.

And we'll be taking a look at the Peregrine Falcons making their home in
Lincoln Cathedral. They’ve definitely got a room with a view! But they are now
going to be the stars of a new RSPB web cam. So find out tonight on the
programme how you can get a birds-eye view of these beautiful aerial predators’
nests!

Plus if you've ever fancied living the ‘Good Life’ and growing your own fruit
and veg, but you've no idea how to go about it, then we'll have the answer for
you. Perhaps I should pay attention to this one! East Riding Council are
launching a community allotment to help you do just that and apparently it’s
not just about becoming more green fingered! Although you’ll be able to meet
experienced horticulturalists to get some top tips for producing compost and
how to cultivate your spuds, it’s also a great way of making friends and
keeping fit. We’re scouting around the newsroom and will be sending our most
green fingered reporter to take a look!

Paul will be with us as normal for the forecast too. That’s on BBC One at half
past six. I hope you can join me then.

Wild Boar

To be honest, this isn’t something that I think about much. Because so much of
the UK is so industrialised or urbanised, you forget how wild parts of our
country can be. So I was surprised at this story. I read that boar hunting is
to return to some of our woodland in order to keep numbers of the animal down.
Now, I hadn’t really realised that there were large numbers of wild boar
roaming about through our forests, never mind enough to require a cull to be
sanctioned. We’re not to worry though if we fancy a stroll through our woods,
as they pose little threat to walkers and might only be dangerous if a sow
thinks you’re about to threatened her piglets. Also it’s said that farmers are
concerned that wild boar may spread diseases like foot and mouth and swine
fever. Perhaps I’m not going to the right forests, but I’ve never seen any sign
of any wild boar! I think I might get a shock if I did though! This selective
cull has come in four hundred years after the last wild boar hu!
nt by King James 1. So there you go. I had no idea that wild boar were
increasing in numbers in the UK’s woodland.

Eclipse

I’m not sure if the weather is going to be kind to star gazers tonight. But
there’s a treat for us if the fog clears and the clouds disappear and if you’re
prepared to stay up too! I think this sight might be appreciated by anyone, who
works the night shift tonight! I always get lunar eclipse and solar eclipses
mixed up. The Moon though should take on a dramatic blood red appearance as the
moon passes through the Earth’s shadow. What needs to happen, and it doesn’t
happen often, is for the sun, the Earth and the moon to form a straight line in
space. There won’t be another total lunar eclipse until 2010. But you’ll have
to set your alarm as the partial eclipse will start about 1.43am according to
NASA and the total eclipse will start about 3.01am. They’re very precise aren’t
they?! So if you’re on a nightshift, then look out for that!

Well, that’s it from me. Enjoy your day and join me tonight if you can.

Peter
