Hi there, welcome to Tuesday’s Levy Letter. Tonight on the programme, if you've
seen the front pages of all the national newspapers you'll know scientists in
Hull are at the centre of one of the day's biggest stories - the research that
shows anti-depressants don't really work for the majority of patients. We'll be
speaking to the man behind the research on the programme tonight. And according
to the statistics, depression affects an incredible amount of people all across
the world and yet I think not many people like talking about it. If you want to
share your story with us about how depression has affected you or your family
and what you think about this news today, then let me know. I’d like to hear
from you. It’s the usual address of [EMAIL PROTECTED] to get in touch with me
direct.

Also tonight, we'll have a special report about the work of the Lincolnshire
and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance as the emergency service approaches its ten
thousandth operation.

Plus the bets are on that the government will finally make an announcement
about plans for new casinos across the country. Hull is in line for a so-called
large casino and Skegness may get a smaller casino. We'll find out if they
finally get the go ahead today.

And Grimsby Town could be just two matches away from a trip to the capital.
It's the football teams’ rescheduled Johnstone Paint Trophy match tonight and
we’ll get the latest. That’s all at half past six as usual and Paul will be
here with the forecast for us tonight as well.

As I say, keep in touch with me today if there’s any news story you think we
should be doing and let me know if you’d like a little plug in the Levy Letter.
Of course, we’re still in the period of Lent for many Christians. Beverley’s
Community Church are organising their own ‘Passion Play’ for Good Friday. Good
luck to them. And let me know if there are any other events to celebrate Easter
coming up and I’ll give them a little mention in the Letter.

Doggies On The Beat

If you remember, recently we looked at designer dogs – that’s cross-bred dogs
that are being bred more frequently because they’re quite fashionable,
especially amongst celebrities. And with their celebrity owners, the doggies
often get kitted out with the latest couture too. Well, from designer dogs and
dogs wearing designer gear to this! More and more Bobbies on the beat are being
accompanied by man’s best friend nowadays apparently, especially in Germany,
but they’re being given special shoes to wear! Police dogs have been having
problems especially in one German town, Dusseldorf, as many sharp objects like
glass get stuck between the cobbles and can damage their paws. Special blue
rubber shoes have been designed for the canines for them to wear whilst they’re
on the beat. But they’re not too popular with the dogs just yet and they’ll
have to undergo some training for a few weeks for them to get used to them. So
police dogs wearing shoes! I suppose in this case it’s not re!
ally for fashion, but I’m not surprised the dogs aren’t too happy about
wearing them!

Well, that's it from me for now. Have a very good day and join me tonight if
you can for Tuesday’s Look North.

Take care,

Peter
