Agreed, it's semantics and posturing at this point for many.

Again, I will make the following summaries ...

1.  LPIC-1 and "stop"

As long as abbreviation and logo usage is allowed _perpetually_, that
addresses the #1 complaint of other certification programs that
"retire" certifications, including "uncertified" individuals who can
no longer use the abbreviation and logo on their resume.

2.  LPIC and practice "continuing education"

For those who "continue" their "education" by either recertifying or,
better yet, those who take and obtain higher or specialized titles,
they are "better represented" by the ACTIVE/INACTIVE change.  The
fact that the change is made on a 5-year cycle is more in-line with
"continuing education" requirements of professional
certification/licensure.

I think if LPI would declare that the original and continuing LPIC-1
title and logo usage is perpetual as it always has been, I think that
would go a long way towards removing a lot of these arguments.
