IMHO, your summary is spot-on as far as the 10-to-5-year reduction is concerned. Personally I would also like to see the LPI executive commit to handling major policy changes like these in a more transparent fashion (Matthew's observation that even he, as director of exam development, learned about the policy change from the announcement, is telling), but I'm not holding my breath.
